Call for Applicants

As part of the CAPPA Water and Human Settlement Initiative, Professors Oswald Jenewein, Diane Jones Allen, and Ivonne Audirac call for applicants for Graduate Research Positions for the Academic Year 2019/2020.
The positions are offered in conjunction with the research grant “A Conflict of Settlement: Oil vs. Water” which investigates the conflict of oil vs. water as natural resources that have served as both premise for settlement and as engine for growth along the Texas Coast focusing on the Corpus Christi Bay area.
The outcome of this grant will include a publication and will be exhibited at the 2020 Venice Biennale in Italy.

Requirements

Applicants must be graduate students in Fall 2019 and Spring 2020 in Architecture, Landscape Architecture, or Urban Planning
+

Applicants must be interested in large-scale approaches towards the built environment, systems thinking, interdisciplinary collaboration, community engagement, and team-work
+

Applicants need strong skills in design, graphic design, and (data) visualization
+

Advanced skills in Rhinoceros 6.0, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere) or ARCGIS are essential for this position
+

Basic skills in Grasshopper, Blender, AfterEffects are preferred
+

Willing to Travel (travel expenses will be compensated)

GRADUATE RESEARCH ASSISTANT

Several Positions for the Academic Year 2019/2020 (one-two semesters)


The Graduate Research Assistant(s) will support the team in conducting research in the area of Climate Adaptation on the scale of architecture and the city in context of Post-Oil Environments. The position(s) will be focusing on visualization of research findings through various media including graphics, drawings, and videos. 

Compensation

USD 3,500.00 for Fall 2019; USD 7,500.00 for the Academic Year 2019/2020; 
12-16 hours per week based on negotiation
